Building a Mozart Masterpiece with Ryan Homes

Well it's been a while but I decided to try this blogging thing again. I know I am crazy to add something else to my busy life but I want to give it a go because of a new exciting journey my fiance' have just started. What is it you ask? Weeeeeelllll..................... WE JUST BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!!! This is kinda a big deal ( at least I think so anyway) and I want to document the process. The good the bad and the ugly lol. We are building a new construction townhouse with Ryan homes. The model is the Mozart. I started throwing the idea about buying a house around with the hubby and finally convinced him to go check out the model with me. Firs of all the neighborhood is amazing! It's exactly what I was looking for. It has 3 community centers, a pool, playgrounds, jogging trails and it is close to a nice lake with a farmers market and summer concerts series! It's beautiful! The sales rep explained that it is an up and coming area for young families like us. We toured the model and I LOVED IT! It has pretty much everything I wanted! Here are some pics of the model we chose:

Kitchen with stainless steel appliances, island and breakfast bar.

Open concept living room right next to the kitchen

Nice size master bedroom

Best part: I will have an office/craft room!

Timeline so far:
4/22/14 Went to see model home
4/26/14 Went through initial cost estimate
4/27/14 Turned in paperwork for Pre-qualification
4/28/14 Got Pre-Qualified
5/4/14 Signed Purchase Agreement and gave 1st deposit
5/8/14 Submitted Mortgage Loan Application with NVR

I will update the timeline as things happen. I will also update with our final selections/upgrades and colors! We are set to close in December. I am so excited/nervous to start this journey to owning the home of my dreams!

BET Awards Review

Ok lets see where do I start....Overall I think the awards were DECENT this year. The main thing I have a problem with is all the censorship cause of all the cursing in the songs. Like everyother second was they were blanking something out. Im not talking about like words sometimes it would be entire sphrases. If they gotta blank out that much then maybe they shouldnt have that artist perform or do that specific song. I think its odd anyway to have hardcore hiphop and gospel at the same show. They have the Hip Hop awards for that. They should keep the BET Awards more family friendly with mainly R& B and that chill Rap in my opinion. Kanye was pretty good I don't have any complaints about him. Usher didn't sound or look good at all to me. I mean pink boots? come on. Sam Jackson was an OK host. I prefer a comedian do it. I really liked Kevin Hart last year. I wonder why they didn't get him again this year. That lil rap Sam did with Spike Lee was cute tho. I think that was the highlight of his hosting. Nicki was surprisingly not too weird. I guess BET wasn't going for that crazy mess she pulled at the grammys this year. I havne't liked her nearly as much since that performance. But last night she was pretty staight foward nothing great nothing bad. Im glad Wale got an award. He did a great shoutout to DC. He did spill Jay's drink going up there but so what!! He was excited. People been saying it's just a BET award...but SO WHAT it is his first one and he was up against some major people in the game. Let him be excited a BET award is more than what the haters got. Ok Mr. DeAngelo's come back lol. He was aight seeing as tho he hasn't performed in like 10 years and was in jail and everything I think he did pretty good. He looked scruffy and is definatley not in the same shape he used to be in the original "How Does it Feel" days but he still sounded good. Chris Brown was good as always I would have prefered him sing a different song and have a longer performance but in traditional CB fashion he did give a show in the short time he performed. On to possibly my favorite part of the show. The Whitney Tribute. Mariah looked great when she came out. Although I really wished she woulda sang too. Ms. Monica SANG she kilt that song and she looked amazing as well. Brandy also sang really well last night. Mama Cissy sang that song for her baby and gave that good ole Baptist Church sound I thought it was GREAT. Chaka looked soooo great and she sounded AMAZING as always. I liked how they didn't choose the usual songs and sang the upbeat ones however I did wanna hear I Will Always Love You just cause it's one of my FAVS. I loved how MS. Beyonce did come to the awards. Of course she looked great and of course everyone would have loved to see her perform but I was glad she was there at least and that she took home some good awards. It was funny to see her there sitting near Kim K. Im still forming an opinion about the whole Kim K and Kanye thing. But thats a whole nother post LOL. O one more thing Solja Boy and Diamond? two words A MESS. lol Ok that pretty much wraps up this Review. If you didn't see it be sure to check it out the reruns or do like I do and rewatch it with your crazy family and laugh as we commentate during the whole thing.

Confessions of a New Momma

I guess its normal to feel completely overwhelmed with a newborn. My daughter Sammy is 3 months old now and I have to say I'm still not sure whether I have this mommy thing down. I'm learning everyday and I suppose I will be for the rest of her life. I absolutely ADORE my baby and I love her to death. I work full time and I have to say I actually enjoy the break while I'm at work. I am blessed because my grandma keeps her during the day so I know she is well taken care of. However I feel guilty about enjoying having a break from her during the day. But then I think.....I also miss her terribly and the anticipation to get home to her builds during the day. I am not only getting a break from her but also the overwhelming feeling I get from taking care of her sometimes. I think this is good. I have a chance to revaluate, calm down, and get back to being the loving non overwhelmed frustrated momma. I'm excited to watch her grow up and I pledge to be the best mommy I can learning along the way. Peace. Love. Pink!

I had a wonderful weekend with my family. My fiance', daughter and I attended his family reunion. Samiyah got to meet even more of her extensive family. I got introduced to lots of people as well. Jerome even met some people he didn't know. Mix that with amazing cookout/soul food and amazing weather....makes for an awesome time. Later on Rome made us some daiquiris and Grandma took the baby.... that makes for an amazing night ;) Sunday Rome had his first fathers day, which he did spend with me and his baby girl so needless to say he had a great time.

OK speaking of Father's Day, I encountered the debate about single mothers being wished and celebrating father's day. Previously I had no opinion about this and didn't really care either way. HOWEVER now this year for some reason I've chosen a side in this ongoing debate. I personally do NOT think we should be wishing single mothers a "happy fathers day" Fathers Day is for FATHERS ie MEN. This can be a biological dad, or a guy filling in for the bio dad who is not in the kid's life. It can be an uncle, grandfather, cousin, friend whoever but none the less a father or father figure is a MAN. This is in no way taking away from single mother's. I acknowledge that the job of a single mother is not easy and it is unfortunate the kid has no father or father figure in their life. HOWEVER we women have Mother's Day. That is our day for ALL mothers including single ones. Let's let the men that are doing the right thing have their day without mothers trying to claim it as well. The names of the days made it very simple for a reason. Fathers day is for fathers and Mothers day is for mothers. Easy. Debate solved. well it is in my opinion anyway lol. Just my thoughts on the matter.
